A bet

Taehyung: "Cause she ran away."

Your breath hitched. Was he… talking about you?

Your heart pounded against your ribcage as you processed his words. He had wanted to kiss you? No… No, that couldn't be right. He was drunk. He didn’t mean it. But then why was he looking at you like that?

His eyes darkened, flickering down to your lips, his gaze filled with a silent hunger that sent a shiver down your spine.

Slowly, his hands came up, cupping your face with an unbearable gentleness, as if afraid you’d disappear if he held you too tightly. The warmth of his palms burned against your skin, yet you felt frozen in place. His touch, his closeness—everything about him felt overwhelming.

Taehyung: "But now… I can kiss her."

His deep, husky voice sent a jolt through your chest, your heartbeat thundering in your ears. The distance between you two disappeared in a breath, his lips hovering just above yours. You could feel his hot, intoxicating breath fanning your face, laced with the scent of alcohol and something undeniably him.

Your mind screamed at you to move, to push him away—but your body betrayed you.

Taehyung closed his eyes, his lips inches from yours, when—

You stepped back.

Y/N: "No…!"

The word barely came out, your voice shaky and uncertain. Taehyung’s eyes opened instantly, a flicker of disappointment crossing his face.

Taehyung: "Y/N, I—"

Y/N: "Stop."

You squeezed your eyes shut, taking a sharp breath. He’s drunk. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Your voice trembled as you spoke.

Y/N: "You’re not in your senses, Taehyung. You should go back to your room."

You turned, forcing yourself to walk away, but before you could take another step—

He grabbed your wrist.

Your breath caught. His grip wasn’t tight, wasn’t forceful… but there was something desperate in the way he held onto you.

Taehyung: "Why…?"

His voice was quiet, almost broken.

Taehyung: "Why do you keep running away from me? Am I really that bad of a person…?"

You felt something inside you shatter at the way he said it.

You turned back to him, eyes stinging with unshed tears.

Y/N: "Taehyung… don’t. Just let me go."

You tried to keep your voice firm, but there was an undeniable waver in your tone. Your emotions were all over the place, your thoughts a tangled mess. Why was he doing this? What did he even want from you?

A part of you screamed that he was only acting this way because of the alcohol—that tomorrow, he wouldn’t remember any of this. That he would go back to being your bully.

Your heart clenched painfully at the thought.

Y/N: "You’re drunk, and I don’t want you to do something you’ll regret."

Your voice softened.

Y/N: "Please… just let me go."

For a moment, Taehyung didn’t move. His grip on your wrist lingered as if he was fighting an internal battle. Then—

He let go.

You turned and ran.

Tears streamed down your face before you could stop them. You didn’t even know why you were crying. Why did it hurt so much?

You wiped at your tears, shaking your head as if to clear your thoughts.

You were doing the right thing. Weren’t you?

___At the Resort Club___

You hurried inside, immediately returning the guitar to its rightful place. You just wanted to go back to your room, to curl up under your blankets and forget everything that just happened.

But before you could slip away, a familiar voice called out.

Eunah: "Y/N!"

You froze, turning around to see her rushing toward you, concern etched into her face.

Eunah: "Where were you? I was looking everywhere for you!"

She stopped in front of you, her brows furrowing as she took in your expression.

Eunah: "Wait… were you crying?"

Your heart clenched.

Y/N: "No. It’s nothing. Just got some dust in my eyes."

You forced a small smile, quickly wiping at your face.

Eunah wasn’t convinced.

Eunah: "Y/N, don’t lie to me. Something happened, didn’t it?"

You swallowed hard. You couldn’t tell her. You didn’t even know how to explain it to yourself.

Y/N: "I’m fine, really. I just… I just want to go to my room."

Eunah studied you for a moment before sighing.

Eunah: "Okay. But if you need to talk… you know where to find me."

You gave her a grateful nod before turning away, making your way to your room.

___In Your Room___

The second you closed the door behind you, all the emotions you had been holding back came crashing down.

You changed into your sleepwear, crawling into bed and pulling the blanket over yourself as if it could shield you from everything that just happened.

Then, the tears came again.

Y/N: "Why am I crying?"

Your voice was barely a whisper. You pressed your hands against your eyes, trying to will the tears away.

Taehyung’s words played over and over in your mind. The way he had looked at you. The way he had held you.

Was he serious?

Even if he was…

It doesn’t change anything.

Y/N: "He hates me."

You said it out loud, as if trying to convince yourself.

Y/N: "He’s just my bully. My heartless bully."

But then why did it feel like your heart was breaking?

You curled into yourself, clutching the fabric of your blanket as if it could stop the ache in your chest.

You needed to forget.

You had to forget.

And yet…

You knew that no matter how much you tried to push it away, tonight would stay with you forever.

___At the Boys' Room___

Joel leaned forward, watching Taehyung’s conflicted expression. His voice was firm yet laced with curiosity.

Joel: "Why didn’t you stop her, huh? I saw the way you looked at her. And don’t even try to deny it—there’s something going on between you two. I’ve never seen you act like this before she came into your life!"

Taehyung let out a deep sigh, running a hand through his hair. His jaw clenched as if he was trying to suppress something.

Taehyung: "She thinks I was just drunk…"

Minsoo scoffed, shaking his head.
Minsoo: "Yah, you guys are overthinking this. I mean, sure, you didn’t kiss Stacey because you don’t like her. But Y/N? It’s the same, right? You don’t like her either… do you?"

Taehyung went silent. His fingers curled into his palm as if battling an internal war. Then, he spoke—his voice softer this time, almost hesitant.

Taehyung: "I know I care for her, but… this is something else. It’s more than just care. I don’t know why, but I can’t stop myself from getting close to her. Whenever I see her, something in me just… pulls toward her. She makes me feel—" He paused, his eyes distant. "She makes me feel comfortable. She makes me smile. She makes me want to do things I never thought I’d do for someone else. It’s like… she understands me in ways no one else does."

His voice dropped lower as if he was afraid of his own words.

Taehyung: "She’s not like other girls who try to get my attention. She doesn’t care about impressing me. She stands her ground, speaks her mind… she’s different." His lips twitched into a small, sad smile. "She’s beautiful—not just on the outside, but inside too."

For a moment, silence filled the room.

Then, Sehun leaned back against the bed, arms crossed. His next words were slow but heavy.
Sehun: "That, my friend… is love."

Taehyung's eyes widened slightly. He looked at Sehun as if he had just spoken something forbidden.

Taehyung: "No way. That’s impossible. I don’t— I don’t believe in love."

Sehun smirked, shaking his head knowingly.
Sehun: "Then explain this—why do you feel the need to protect her? Why do you want to keep her close, to keep her in your sight at all times? Why does it bother you when she walks away?"

Taehyung clenched his jaw again, his hands fisting the sheets beneath him. He had no answer. Because deep down, he knew Sehun was right.

Joel chuckled, nudging Minsoo.
Joel: "See? I told you there’s something between them!"

Minsoo hummed, arms crossed.
Minsoo: "But he’s still in denial."

Joel grinned. "Then let’s make this interesting. Let’s bet on it."

Minsoo smirked. "I’m in. What’s the bet?"

Sehun: "Simple. Taehyung, if you truly don’t love her, prove it. Stay away from her. Ignore her. Don’t let her presence affect you." He raised a brow. "If you can resist her, then we’ll believe you."

Taehyung scoffed, but his hands felt clammy.

Taehyung: "But you guys know she signed that damn contract—"

Minsoo: "Forget the contract. Just for one day. No excuses."

Taehyung exhaled sharply, feeling cornered. He didn’t like this.

Taehyung: "Fine."

But deep down, a question gnawed at him—
Would he really be able to resist her?

Or would he lose this bet… and lose himself to her?

Here's your refined version with deeper emotions and a stronger connection to the characters’ feelings:

___Next Day___

Eunah frowned as she studied your face, concern etched into her features.
Eunah: "Y/N… are you not feeling well? You barely spoke last night. What’s wrong?"

You forced a small smile, shaking your head.
Y/N: "I’m fine, Eunah. Really. You should go with the others. You came here to enjoy, not to babysit me. Don’t worry about me."

Eunah pouted, clearly unconvinced.
Eunah: "No, I’m not going anywhere if you’re staying back. If you can’t go, then I won’t either!"

She reached for her phone, about to inform everyone, but you quickly stopped her by holding her hand. Just then, Soohyun walked out of the bathroom, drying her hands.

Soohyun: "If she doesn’t want to go, then let her rest, Eunah. Why are you forcing her?"

Eunah shot her a sharp glare.
Eunah: "Mind your own business, Soohyun. I don’t remember asking for your advice."

Soohyun rolled her eyes, tossing her towel on the bed.
Soohyun: "Huh… suit yourself. Do whatever you want."

She caught both of your reflections in the mirror near the nightstand, raising an eyebrow before walking away.

Eunah: "Idiot." (she muttered before turning back to you, her expression softening) "Y/N…"

You sighed, knowing she wouldn’t leave without you.
Y/N: "I’ll come with you, okay? Don’t worry, I’m fine."

Eunah’s face lit up, relief washing over her.
Eunah: "Really? Then let me get your stuff ready!"

She hugged you tightly, making you chuckle despite the weight in your heart. You hadn’t wanted to go at first—not because you were unwell, but because you didn’t want to face him. Taehyung.

But you knew you couldn’t avoid him forever. Last night was over. You had made up your mind—you would act normal. Like nothing happened.

Taking a deep breath, you steeled yourself and got ready.

___In the corridor___

Eunah: "Y/N, you go ahead. I’ll be down in a few minutes."

You nodded.
Y/N: "Okay, I’ll wait for you in the lobby. Don’t take too long."

As you walked through the corridor, you noticed someone standing near the entrance, talking on the phone.

Jimin: "Mom… how’s she now? Okay… just take care of her. I’m coming."

He ended the call, his expression serious. That’s when he noticed you approaching.

Y/N: "Jimin? Where are you going with that luggage?"

His face softened slightly at the sight of you.
Jimin: "I’m going home."

You frowned.
Y/N: "Home? But why so suddenly? What happened? Is everything okay?"

Jimin hesitated for a second before sighing.
Jimin: "I can’t explain right now, Y/N… but don’t worry. I just have to go."

You could sense something was wrong, but you didn’t push. Instead, you gave him a small smile.
Y/N: "Take care of yourself, okay? And call me if anything happens."

He nodded, offering you a faint smile before walking past you. You watched him leave, lost in thought. Last night’s conversation between him and Taehyung replayed in your mind, making your chest feel heavy.

But what you didn’t know was that someone else had been watching.

As Jimin walked past, your gaze lifted—and met his.

A few feet away, Taehyung stood with his hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable. But his eyes… his eyes held something intense. A storm of emotions swirling beneath the surface.

You felt frozen under his gaze, your mind flashing back to last night.

Taehyung’s POV

The sound of voices in the corridor made me step out of my room.

Then, I saw them. Y/N and Jimin. Talking. Smiling.

A sharp pang hit my chest, an unfamiliar frustration crawling under my skin. I hated it. I hated seeing her with someone else.

She hadn’t noticed me because Jimin was blocking her view, but I saw everything.

Didn’t I tell her to stay away from Jimin? To not talk to him? And yet, here she was—doing the exact opposite.

Why does she never listen to me?

I clenched my jaw, my hands curling into fists at my sides. I shouldn’t care. I shouldn’t care. But then… why did it feel like my blood was boiling?

Jimin finally walked away, and then… I saw her clearly.

And damn. She was beautiful.

Her bright, innocent eyes. The way her hair fell perfectly around her face. She looked… unreal. Ethereal.

I wanted to walk up to her. To say something. Anything.

But before I could move, a hand landed on my shoulder.

Sehun: "Where do you think you’re going, my dear friend?"

I turned my head slightly, my jaw still tight.

Sehun: "Don’t forget what we decided last night."

His voice was laced with amusement, but his grip on my shoulder was firm. I knew what he meant. I had agreed to ignore her. To prove that this wasn’t love.

But right now, it felt impossible.

I was about to protest when—

??? "Hey, Taehyung!"

I stiffened as someone suddenly walked past Y/N and headed straight toward me.

Stacey.

Before I could react, she casually linked her arm through mine, a bright smile on her face.

Stacey: "Are you ready for today? We’re going to the famous marketplace, and we’ll have lunch there too! It’s going to be so much fun, right?"

Her voice was cheerful, but I wasn’t paying attention. My eyes were still locked on Y/N.

And then I saw it.

The way her expression shifted ever so slightly.

She looked away.

Was that… disappointment?

A strange satisfaction twisted in my chest, but at the same time, I felt like shit.

Sehun: "Yeah, of course! It’ll be fun."

He nudged my elbow, snapping me out of my trance.

Taehyung: "Hmmm." (I hummed absentmindedly, finally glancing at Stacey)

But before Y/N could leave, Sehun smirked and called her name.

Sehun: "Oh, Y/N! You’re here too? Let’s go together."
