Taehyung: “So you were expecting Jimin here… huh?”
His voice was laced with something sharp—something almost dangerous.
Your fingers curled into fists at your sides, your breath hitching at the intensity in his gaze. But you refused to let him see how much he affected you.
Y/N: “Why does it matter to you?”
His jaw clenched. His grip on the book tightened. His dark eyes flickered with something unspoken—anger? Jealousy? Frustration? You couldn’t tell. But whatever it was, it burned behind his irises, setting fire to the space between you.
The air grew thick, heavy with unspoken words, with emotions neither of you had the courage to name.
And just like that, you realized—this wasn’t about a book.
This was about you and him.
You looked away, unwilling to entertain this tension any longer. Annoyed, you took a deep breath and said—
Y/N: “Leave my way.”
But instead of stepping aside, Taehyung took a deliberate step forward, closing the already small gap between you. Your breath hitched.
Y/N: “I said leave my—”
Taehyung: “Is Jimin really that close to you? Were you seriously looking for him?” His voice was low, almost taunting. “I see.”
A flicker of something passed through his eyes—something unreadable, something raw. You frowned. Why was he suddenly asking about Jimin? What was going on between them? Why were they always on edge around each other?
Annoyance flared in your chest as you met his gaze.
Y/N: “Does it really matter to you who I was expecting? Or who I wasn’t?” Your tone was laced with sarcasm, daring him to admit whatever was on his mind.
Taehyung: “Oh, really?”
His response was cryptic, unreadable. You sighed in frustration.
Y/N: “Taehyung, I’m not wasting my time arguing with you. If I stay here any longer, you’ll just find another way to trap me in your ridiculous games.” You glared. “So move.”
You stepped forward, determined to push past him, but before you could, his strong arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you back. Your breath hitched as your hands instinctively landed on his chest.
Your heart pounded.
Too close.
His deep, penetrating gaze locked onto yours, trapping you in place. The air between you crackled with something unspoken, something undeniable. His fingers pressed lightly against your waist, the warmth of his touch searing through your clothes.
His gaze dipped—down to your parted lips.
A strange, unexplainable urge flickered in his dark eyes, making your stomach twist in anticipation.
You gulped, the silence between you growing unbearable. Your voice wavered as you finally managed to speak.
Y/N: “W-what… a-are you… d-doing, Tae—”
Taehyung: “Who said you could leave?” His voice was softer this time, but there was an edge to it—possessive, commanding.
Your heart skipped a beat.
You had never heard him speak like that before.
Y/N: “C-can you let go of me?” Your voice was barely above a whisper.
Something flashed in his eyes, something conflicted. Then, as if realizing what he was doing, he slowly released you, taking a step back.
The moment his warmth left your body, you felt a strange, unwelcome emptiness settle in your chest.
Clearing his throat, Taehyung looked away, shoving a hand into his pocket.
Taehyung: “I came here to tell you… you’re coming on the tour the day after tomorrow.”
Your brows furrowed at his sudden shift in tone.
Y/N: “What? No. I don’t have the time or money for that.”
Taehyung: “I’m not asking,” he said, his voice firm. “I already submitted your NOC and paid for the tour charges.”
Your eyes widened in shock.
Y/N: “You did what?!”
How could he do this without even telling you?
Your frustration bubbled over.
Y/N: “Who the hell told you to do that?! Why are you like this, Kim Taehyung? You love making my life difficult—”
Before you could finish, he pressed a finger to your lips, silencing you.
Taehyung: “Shh…” His voice was low, sending a shiver down your spine. “I told you what I came here to say. And don’t forget about the contract.”
Your breath hitched.
That damn contract.
You yanked his hand away, your eyes burning with defiance.
Y/N: “No way. I won’t go.”
And with that, you spun around, storming off before he could say another word.
Taehyung watched you disappear down the aisle, a small, knowing smirk playing on his lips.
Taehyung: “I know you will.”
Next Night
Y/N: “Yahhhhhh! Kim Taehyung! Why do you always do these things?!”
Your voice rang through the room, filled with frustration.
You knew there was no way to cancel now, so you had already informed Eunah and Jimin that you’d be coming. They were thrilled to hear it, even changing their plans so you could meet them tomorrow. With a resigned sigh, you started packing your things.
An hour later, you finally finished. Exhausted, you collapsed onto the bed beside your packed bag, letting out a deep sigh as you closed your eyes.
Then—
??: “So, packing done?”
Your eyes flew open in shock.
Sitting up abruptly, your heart pounded as you whipped your head toward the unexpected voice.
Y/N: “AHH! You scared me, Kim Taehyung!”
Your eyes darted to the open window, where he stood casually, arms crossed, a smug smirk playing on his lips.
Y/N: “Why are you here again at this hour? Do you even realize how much trouble I’ll be in if someone sees you here?!” You shot him a glare. “I told you not to sneak in like this—didn’t I?! Then why do you keep coming?!”
Taehyung, completely unbothered by your outburst, stepped inside as if he belonged there.
Taehyung: “Why do you always keep this window open?” His voice held a teasing lilt. “Don’t tell me… you keep it open for me?”
A deep chuckle escaped his lips, making your irritation spike.
Y/N: “It feels like I’m talking to a ghost,” you mumbled under your breath, shaking your head.
Taehyung ignored your grumbling.
Taehyung: “Huh? Tell me, why would you—”
You groaned.
Y/N: “Taehyung, I am not in the mood to entertain you right now. So please, just go back home! It’s late! I need to sleep.”
For the first time, Taehyung actually listened. He studied your face, noticing the genuine exhaustion laced with frustration in your eyes.
Taehyung: “Fine, I’ll go.”
You exhaled in relief—
Taehyung: “But at least lock this window.”
Your head snapped toward him.
Taehyung: “What if someone else sneaks in? What if someone tries to harm you or rob the place?” His voice held an unexpected concern.
Your relief turned into stubborn defiance.
Y/N: “No. I’m not locking it.”
His brows furrowed.
Taehyung: “Why?”
You pressed your lips into a thin line, looking away.
Y/N: “I don’t want to tell you. So just leave.”
Taehyung: “I won’t leave until you tell me.”
You rolled your eyes, sighing dramatically before crossing your arms over your chest.
Y/N: “I’m claustrophobic.”
Taehyung stilled.
Y/N: “I can’t stay alone in enclosed places. Small, locked spaces make me panic. That’s why I don’t lock this window.”
Silence filled the air.
Taehyung’s expression shifted—something unreadable flashing in his eyes.
You expected him to mock you, to tease you for your fear. But he didn’t.
Instead, his lips parted slightly, as if he wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words.
And then, realization dawned on him.
The music room.
That day, when he had locked you inside, thinking it was just another one of his playful schemes.
Guilt settled deep in his chest.
His silence made you glance up at him, surprised by the change in his demeanor.
Y/N: “Now that you know the reason, please go.”
Your voice was softer now, exhaustion evident in your tone.
Taehyung took a deep breath, shaking off whatever thoughts were clouding his mind.
Taehyung: “Meet me tomorrow, in front of the university gate—”
Y/N: “9 AM. I know.” You cut him off, giving him a pointed look. “Now go.”
Taehyung exhaled, running a hand through his hair before finally stepping back toward the window.
As he climbed out, you instinctively walked toward the window, watching him descend safely.
Just as he reached the ground, he stopped.
Then—he turned.
Your breath hitched.
His eyes flickered toward your window, scanning for something—someone.
You panicked, quickly hiding behind the curtain, pressing a hand against your chest.
Did he see you?
A few heartbeats passed.
Then, you heard his footsteps fade into the night.
Letting out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, you shook your head, mumbling to yourself.
Y/N: “Aish… What is wrong with me?”
You flopped onto your bed, covering your face with your hands.
Y/N: “Ahhh, Y/N, just rest already!”
But even as you shut your eyes, your heart refused to calm.
Next Day
The university campus was buzzing with excitement as students gathered near the bus, their voices mixing with the crisp morning air. You spotted Eunah waving enthusiastically, her bright smile stretching across her face. Clutching your bag, you made your way toward her.
Eunah: "Ahh! Finally, you agreed to come! I can't believe it! This trip is going to be amazing—just imagine! Three days away from all the stress, away from classes, and finally some relaxation!"
You gave a small nod, though your eyes unconsciously scanned the crowd. A strange sense of anticipation tingled in your chest.
???: "Hey, Y/N!"
Your breath hitched for a second. Turning around, you found Jimin approaching you and Eunah, his usual soft smile tugging at his lips. Eunah, on the other hand, looked completely caught off guard, her wide eyes darting between the two of you. And then you remembered—you hadn’t told her about your friendship with Jimin.
Y/N: "Oh… hey!"
Jimin: "So, ready for the trip?" His gaze lingered on you for a moment, warmth evident in his expression.
Y/N: "Yeah, of course! All set!" you replied, trying to sound casual, but the slight awkwardness in the air was impossible to ignore.
Eunah cleared her throat, obviously feeling a little left out. You immediately turned to her.
Y/N: "Oh! Jimin, meet Eunah—my best friend!"
Jimin flashed her a friendly smile. "Hey, Eunah, nice to meet you!"
For a second, Eunah seemed to freeze. Then, she quickly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and responded, "H-Hi, Jimin!"—a little too sweetly.
You watched with amusement as she adjusted her posture slightly, trying to appear more put-together. Suppressing a grin, you turned your attention back to the crowd, but your mind was somewhere else—no, not somewhere… someone.
Where was he?
Your gaze drifted over the students, unconsciously searching for Taehyung.
But he wasn’t there.
A strange, sinking feeling settled in your stomach.
Just then, the professors arrived, their presence immediately commanding attention.
Professor Shin: "Alright, everyone, listen up! We’ll be spending the next three days on an adventure—two days of trekking and camping, followed by our last day at the beach. Make sure you follow the rules, stay with your assigned groups, and most importantly—have fun!"
Cheers erupted through the crowd, excitement rippling like waves. But your enthusiasm was dampened by an unsettling thought.
"Is he not coming…?"
As students hurried to load their bags into the bus, Jimin stepped forward.
Jimin: "Give me your bag, I’ll put it in the back space."
Before you could respond, Eunah quickly intervened.
Eunah: "Oh! I’ll help you! Let’s go!" She practically yanked your bag from your hands and walked off with Jimin, leaving you standing there, distracted.
Your fingers tightened around the strap of your sling bag.
"Why isn’t he here yet?"
One by one, students started boarding the bus. The professors began their final headcount.
Professor Lee: "Alright, let’s get moving! Everyone inside—let’s not waste time!"
Your heart pounded slightly as you took your first step toward the bus.
But before you could climb in—
A firm grip wrapped around your wrist.
Your breath caught.
You turned, only to meet a pair of dark, piercing eyes.
Kim Taehyung.
The world around you blurred as he pulled you a little away from the bus door, his grip strong yet familiar.
Your eyes flickered to the side, noticing his group—his friends leaning against their motorcycles, their expressions smug as if they already knew what was coming next.
That’s when you saw it.
His bike.
Your eyes widened in realization.
Taehyung: "You’re coming with me. And before you start arguing—" his voice dropped an octave, firm and commanding, "I won’t take no for an answer."
You opened your mouth to protest—
Professor Lee: "Oh, Taehyung! I thought you guys weren’t coming!"
Taehyung turned slightly toward the professor, his tone casual.
Taehyung: "We’re coming, but we’ve decided to take our bikes instead. You know how much we love riding—so I hope you’ll allow us to follow along."
The professor sighed, rubbing his temples. "Fine. But don’t get lost on the way!"
He was easily convinced, knowing about Taehyung's father's influence over the university.
Taehyung smirked. "Wouldn’t dream of it."
The professor nodded and turned back toward the students.
You took the opportunity to tug your wrist free from Taehyung’s grasp.
Y/N: "Taehyung, what the hell—"
Taehyung: "Oh, and Professor—Y/N is coming with me too."
Your breath hitched.
Professor Lee: "What? No, she’s not."
Taehyung: "She has motion sickness," he stated smoothly, turning toward you with a knowing look, "Right, Y/N?"
You stiffened. He was lying.
His eyes bore into yours, challenging you to deny it.
Your hands curled into fists. Clenching your jaw, you gave a barely noticeable nod.
The professor hesitated.
Professor Lee: "I can’t allow that. She’s my responsibility."
Taehyung’s expression softened. His next words came with an edge of sincerity.
Taehyung: "Professor, please. I’ll take full responsibility. If you don’t allow her to come with me, she might not be able to enjoy the trip at all. I just… I don’t want her to suffer."
Something about the way he said it made your chest tighten.
The professor let out a long sigh. "Fine. Y/N, you can go with him. But don’t disappear from the road."
Taehyung grinned in triumph.
Taehyung: "Thank you, Professor."
As the professor turned away, you glared at Taehyung.
Y/N: "What the hell was that?"
He smirked, walking toward his bike. Without looking back, he simply said—
Taehyung: "Let’s go."
And despite everything—despite the frustration bubbling in your chest—
You had no choice but to follow.
_Near the bikes_
Joel: "Hiii Y/N...!!" (He called out as you approached their group, all of them perched on their bikes.)
Y/N: "Hello, guys..!!" (You greeted hesitantly, feeling slightly out of place.)
Sehun: "So, ready for a road trip with us?"
You barely nodded, mumbling under your breath, "As if I have a choice..."
Taehyung: (Tilting his head) "Hmm? Did you say something?" (He suddenly stood beside you, his presence making you stiffen slightly.)
Y/N: "No..." (You sighed internally, avoiding his gaze.)
Taehyung: (Extending a helmet toward you) "Here. Wear it."
Sehun: (Grinning mischievously) "Are you two riding together? I mean, I have an empty seat behind me, Y/N. If you want, you can sit with me—" (He barely finished his sentence before Taehyung cut in.)
Taehyung: (Firmly) "No. She’s coming with me. You go alone."
Sehun: (Chuckling under his breath) "Oh, relax, Taehyung. I was just asking since you two aren’t exactly on friendly terms." (He smirked, clearly enjoying Taehyung’s instant reaction.)
You blinked, slightly startled at how quickly Taehyung had responded.
Minsoo: "Yah, cool down, Taehyung! We’re going to be late—the bus has already left!"
Joel: "Let’s go, guys! No more delays!"
Sehun: "Alright, we’ll go ahead. Catch up, Taehyung."
Taehyung: "Yeah, yeah… just lead the way."
As the others revved up their bikes and sped ahead, Taehyung turned back to you, noticing you were still holding the helmet. He let out a sigh.
Taehyung: "Y/N, wear it. We won’t catch up to them if you keep standing here."
You hesitated before nodding slightly, slipping the helmet over your head. You struggled with the straps under your chin when, suddenly, Taehyung stepped closer.
Without a word, he bent down to your level, fingers brushing against yours as he took over. You felt his warm breath against your skin, the closeness making your heart race unexpectedly. Your eyes lifted, and for a brief moment, you found yourself staring into his deep brown eyes.
Taehyung looked up, catching your gaze.
Your breath hitched.
You quickly backed away, breaking the moment as your heart pounded wildly in your chest.
Y/N: "W-We should go now…!"
Taehyung: (Clearing his throat, turning away) "Yeah." (He swung a leg over the bike, waiting.) "Come sit."
You hesitated before getting on, keeping a small distance between the two of you, gripping the back handle of the bike lightly.
Taehyung: (Glancing at you through the rearview mirror) "Do you want to fall off?"
Y/N: "I won’t fall. I’m fi—"
Taehyung suddenly hit the brakes, making you jerk forward, your body pressing against his back.
Taehyung: (Smirking slightly) "Hold on, or don’t blame me when you fall."
Y/N: "Aish…!" (You sighed in frustration before gripping onto his jacket.)
Taehyung, satisfied, sped off.
One Hour Later
Y/N: "Taehyung, please slow down… I’m scared!" (You clung to his jacket, tightening your grip.)
Taehyung: (Sighing) "We’re already behind because of you. If I slow down any more, we’ll lose them completely."
He stopped at a crossroads, looking at the two diverging roads ahead.
Y/N: "What happened?"
Taehyung: "I don’t know which road to take." (His eyes scanned for any signposts.)
Y/N: "Wait… what? You don’t know?!" (Frustration bubbled inside you.) "Call Sehun or Joel! Ask them!"
Taehyung: "Yah, I was about to!" (He fished his phone out, dialing.)
The call went unanswered.
Taehyung: "They’re not picking up."
Y/N: (Groaning) "Aishh! Let me call my friends."
You tried Jimin and Eunah, but both calls failed.
Y/N: (Feeling panic rise) "No network… great. Just great!"
Taehyung: (Frowning) "So, what do we do now?"
Y/N: "We’re lost, that’s what! Which direction is the right one?!"
Taehyung: "Don’t worry… we’ll go in that direction."
Y/N: "What if it’s the wrong way? We’ll get lost!"
Taehyung: "We won’t. Look, that old signboard shows a forest path, which means this road must lead to our destination."
Y/N: "Are you sure?"
Taehyung: "Yeah, of course… or maybe?" (He mumbled the last part under his breath.)
Y/N narrowed their eyes but didn’t argue. "Then let’s go. Why are we standing here? I need to reach there ASAP!"
Taehyung sighed and revved up his bike, taking the left turn with confidence—or at least what appeared to be confidence.
Two Hours Later
The rhythmic hum of the engine and the cool air brushing against Y/N’s face made their eyelids heavy. Without realizing it, their body leaned forward, head resting lightly against Taehyung’s back. A small, almost imperceptible smile tugged at his lips as he felt their warmth pressing against him.
Taehyung: "Sleeping… huh?" (He asked, waiting for a response.)
Y/N let out a soft hum, too drowsy to form proper words. But a few moments later, realization hit them like a jolt. Their eyes flew open, and they instantly pulled back, mentally facepalming.
Y/N: "Ahh, what’s wrong with me…?" (They blinked rapidly, shaking off the drowsiness.)
As they looked around, a strange unease settled in their gut. The road, once familiar, was now surrounded by towering trees—dense, dark, and unfamiliar.
Y/N: "Taehyung?"
Taehyung: "Yeah? What happened?"
Y/N: "Are you sure we’re going in the right direction?"
Taehyung frowned slightly. "Why? What’s wrong?"
Y/N: "Stop the bike!"
Taehyung: "Huh?"
Y/N: "I said STOP THE BIKE. RIGHT NOW!"
Startled by the urgency in their voice, Taehyung immediately pulled over. Y/N quickly got off, removing their helmet in a rush.
Taehyung: "What’s wrong with you? Why did we stop?" (He asked, stepping off the bike, confusion flickering in his eyes.)
Y/N: "Because we took the WRONG WAY!"
